back from Malaysia
Wednesday, 28 March 2012 @ 7:46 pm
Okay late post..
went to Malaysia from 23-27 March

It was quite a nice trip. I actually felt kinda sad when I came back to SG ..
cos I knew it was gonna be more boring days waiting ahead..

In M'sia, I had to abandon internet and xbox..
I could only watch movies and play offline games on my laptop there..

Those few days of not spending time on internet and xbox really made me connect more to nature and the people around me. Technology is really making me feel lonely sometimes, if not all the time..

And it's proven you know? Social media experts say that 75% of facebook users are addicted to facebook and out of those 75%, more than 50% of them said they feel lonely.

That's because facebook allows us to chat and check out each other's happenings with the click of a button. The need for a face-to-face meet up is not there anymore, social media and instant messaging have basically ruined the essence of the human touch.

It has its goods and bads. And I think that it's good in a way that it's more convenient yes, but perhaps a little too convenient that people choose to stick to it and forgo genuine, non-cyber interaction.

Ok, back to the M'sia trip..

Day 1 -
Woke up early in the morning on the 23rd to head for Kuala Lumpur.
Me and my family went together with my uncle and auntie to give offerings to my great grandfather in KL .
We left at around 9am and reached at around 3 or 4p.m.. we then checked in the hotel for one night only, because the 2nd day onwards was for visiting my grandpa's house.

When we got into our hotel room, I was exhausted and fell asleep despite being sticky and all..
I slept until it was time to go for dinner.. which was around 8p.m

We then walked around town to find any nice places to have dinner. Eventually we found our way to an underground food court which had lots of food like fishball mee, penang prawn mee, penang char kway teow, bak kut teh and so on.. they even had Singapore Fried Hokkien Mee. Our local Hokkien Mee is recognised by our countries, that's awesome! :)

I tried the Penang Fried Kway Teow and to be honest, it wasn't that great.. I don't think it's the stall's problem, it was the cook that day. He was some young Indonesian who didn't look like a competent cook. But it didn't matter, I ate a delicious bowl of Mango snow ice afterwards which satisfied my taste buds again .

After dinner, we headed back to the hotel to relax and catch up on some sleep..
I went back and had a nice warm bath. It's rare for me to have baths as I don't have a bath tub at home, so whenever I go to a hotel and see that there's a bathtub there, I'm like
After having a sweet warm bath, I watched some movies which I stored in my hard drive and brought it up just to watch them on my laptop .

After watching a movie or two, it was around 3am and I couldn't take it anymore, I had to sleep.

Day 2 -
Woke up at around 8am to have breakfast and visit my great grandfather's grave.
We went early to avoid the searing heat of the afternoon sun.

After offering respects, we headed for lunch at a nearby coffeeshop and had fishball mee, chee cheong fun, wanton mee, chicken rice, yong tau foo, basically a Chinese feast !
Makes me hungry typing all these now :(

After lunch, we headed back to the hotel to check out and drive to my grandfather's house while my auntie and uncle headed back to SG with my grandma first.

It was a tiring first and second day as I had to sit in the car for long hours.. but when we finally got to the town, it was around 2 or 3 p.m and we checked in to another hotel. But it wasn't a hotel, it was an inn, a small and cheap, economical place for travellers to rest a night or two before continuing, if you don't know. Sorta like a cottage .. yea

When we reached there, I was again, exhausted and slept without bathing..
I slept until 5+ and then bathed, after which we headed for my grandfather's house.

For the next two days, this was basically it. Going to my grandfather's house in the day and returning back to the inn at night to sleep. It wasn't as boring as expected.. I slept in my grandpa's room most of the time lol !

On the final day, when it was time for me to leave, I had mixed emotions. Glad that I could finally see my friends and talk to them again, but sad that I'll have to face a concrete jungle rather than a natural jungle again..

Sigh, I might just migrate to Malaysia one day if I can't handle the stress in Singapore. I really might.. Anyway, that's about it. Here are some pics I took while in Malaysia.

Great view of the city of KL from our 20+ storey room

Saw a herd of cows along the way to my grandpa's house, lol so cute. No such thing in Singapore, so it was quite unique for a city dweller like me to see cows walking on the road, lol.

Saw these big and fluffy clouds along the way home from Malaysia. You'll never see such big and fluffy clouds here in Singapore because most of our trees have been cut down for development ... sigh ~

going to Malaysia
Friday, 23 March 2012 @ 7:11 pm
Gosh.. I have 6 weeks of holidays and half of it has just flown by like that, in the blink of an eye.

Ahhhh fuck, why do good things always come in short packages.. -.-

Did nothing much in these 3 weeks.. Have been rotting at home most of the time, but of course still exercising every now and then to keep fit.

Other than that, it's just facebook, xbox, and lots of useless shit that you do when you rot at home..

Moving along.. I have finally gotten rid off the hideous Nokia phone of mine in replace for a Samsung Galaxy SII. The phone is wicked sweet, user interface is excellent, graphics are scintillating, speed is fast and smooth ..
Totally outshining my Nokia phone by like 10x in every aspect ..
I'm loving my Galaxy SII so far !

Okay, I'm going to Malaysia from today until Tuesday to pay respects for ancestors, as it's qin min jie now.
Having mixed feelings, cos these 3 weeks have made me so lazy and lethargic that I don't feel like going overseas at the moment..

But at the same time, heading up to Malaysia allows me to escape from the stress here in Singapore.. the thought of escaping from the hustle and bustle of our city and experiencing an abundance of greenery and wide-open space there altogether gives me a reason to go there already..

Alright, that's all from me, now.
Will blog again (I hope) when I return back.
Enjoy your holidays (Poly / non-JC peeps) ~

dead dead dead blogggg

past few weeks have been real hectic
projects, assignments, reports

every night I reach home I barely have time to watch tv or go online
trust me, Poly life is definitely not as slack as what you think (for those who are not in Poly)

and then after all the projects, assignments and reports comes the exams
which I had to spend the time studying and doing past year papers ..

had couple of sleepness nights during the exam week due to my desperate struggle to mug the exam subjects

but it was all worth it, as I found the exam papers relatively manageable
I think I can score A for some subjects, and maybe C+ or B for some
I don't think I will fail any subjects this sem, I really hope I don't. If I do, I'll just fucking change course man. Can't afford to repeat another module, it'll be too detrimental to my morale.

Anyway, I feel that this Sem was a major improvement compared to last Sem in terms of my effort put in, my awareness of what my future is gonna be ,etc..

In just a few more years, I'm gonna be enrolled in NS, and then if possible, studying in a Uni, and then being a fully-grown adult, having to work to earn money.

I'm kinda scared of this huge transition in life, in just a few years time, I will be transforming from a young male to an adult male. All my responsibilities, my actions, my behaviour will have to change as well. Wow, life sure is short.

Growing up makes me miss my childhood real real bad. Sigh, nostalgic reminiscence is what I get every now and then. I feel that our education system has ruined our childhood in a way, we spent like 70 - 90% of our time in childhood studying. When the ideal mix should be a 50-50 balance of studies and social life. Our education system is seriously forcing us into the " College triangle "

Life is too fast-paced in Singapore, which is why we rank one of the Bottom 10 countries for the World Happiness Index...
Although there is no fixed way of measuring a country's average happiness, I won't deny that Singaporeans are generally unhappy with their lives.

Increasing road taxes, increasing fuel price, increasing ERP, increasing GST, increasing transport fares, increasing food prices

SG's standard of living really too high already, we are currently facing first world problems now.. haha

Haiz, I just wish I can adapt to all these changes appropriately.
It's the holidays now and I'm gonna find a job to earn money.
First world problems come into play again

Ok that's it from me. Gonna enjoy my holidays now before I start working. Bye ~
